About Online Advising
HCC ONLINE ADVISORS:Assist students with every aspect of their academic progression from goal setting and degree planning to transfer planning and graduation.
Assist students with the interpretation of policies and procedures and provide students with information about HCC degree and certificate programs.
Are committed to your success. Academic advisors reach out to students who are struggling academically and put them in contact with institutional resources that can help, such as tutoring or counseling services.
Are assigned to students participating in online programs. Students are welcome to meet with their advisors in person at HCC’s 3100 Main St. building or via telephone, email, chat, and video conference.
3 Steps to Plan Your Future
Step 1: Career Exploration
Access career outlook information, review educational requirements for specific fields of study and more with Career Coach. Do you have questions? Do you want to learn more? Contact your Advisor to learn more about the process.
Step 2: Select a Program
HCC offers a wide variety of academic programs to meet your educational needs. Determine which program is right for you with the College and Career Planner. Visit the Hybrid Programs page and the Online Programs page to determine which program is right for you. Do you have questions? Do you want to learn more? Contact your Advisor through the Virtual Academic Advising website to learn more about the process.
Step 3: Develop an Academic Plan
Once you’ve officially selected a program, review the program's degree plan to plot out each course needed to accomplish your goal and organize by semester. Students who intend to transfer to a university should review transfer guides, joint admissions programs and more at the Transfer Room. Do you have questions? Do you want to learn more? Meet with an Advisor
New Students
First-time students or Transferring in with less than 12 credit hours:
- First-time students who are planning to exclusively enroll in online courses are required to attend an online Advising & Registration session prior to registering for courses. During this session, you will meet with an academic advisor to learn more about HCC and determine your course placement.

Current & Returning Students
HCC Online Advisors are assigned to students participating in online programs. If you are a campus student taking an online class, you will need to contact your assigned advisor. To find your assigned Advisor, go to HCC MyEagle and select Student Sign In. Log in and go to the Academic Progress tile. Select Advisor on the left to see your assigned Advisor.
HCC Online Advisors can assist online students with admissions, registration, entrance testing requirements, degree planning, and transfer questions. Online students are welcome to meet with their advisors in person at HCC’s 3100 Main St. building or via telephone, email, chat, and video conference.
