If you previously attended HCC and are ready to return and complete your degree or certificate, we're here to help.

Who is Eligible?

  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and maintain a 2.0 GPA throughout participation in the scholarship program.
  • Meet Texas Residency requirements.
  • Must be a degree seeking student.
  • Have an outstanding balance less than $500 at Houston City College.
  • Have previously earned credit hours at Houston City College.
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements*.
    • * Exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Have successfully submitted a FAFSA or TASFA application for the current academic year.

 

Houston Reconnect Scholarship – How to Get Started

  1. Apply to HCC

    Register with Houston City College, either online or in person. Check your email to follow the steps to complete your enrollment checklist.

  2. Apply for FAFSA or TASFA

    Submit a FAFSA or TASFA application for the appropriate academic year.

  3. Meet with an Academic Advisor

    An advisor can help you with your degree plan, next steps, and scholarship eligibility.

  4. Enroll

    Enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours that apply toward your degree or certificate plan.

  5. Receive the Houston Reconnect Scholarship

    A Houston Reconnect College Representative can apply the scholarship indicator. The scholarship covers eligible tuition and fees and includes a bookstore voucher.

  6. Succeed!

    Maintain your eligibility by successfully completing your classes and working toward graduation.

Which Students will Receive Funding?

HCC will give priority to students seeking:

  • Short-term credentials that can be completed in one year or less
  • Associate degrees that can be completed in less than 4 semesters
