The 2025 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee hosted by Houston Community College is open to all public, private, charter, and homeschool students who meet eligibility requirements. IMPORTANT: To better align with the format of the Scripps National Spelling Bee, the regional bee will include both spelling and word meaning rounds. The top three spellers of the 2025 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee hosted by Houston Community College will progress to Scripps National Spelling Bee to be held in the Washington, D.C. area. Airfare and lodging expenses for each speller and one parent will be covered by the regional bee.

Key Dates

• 11/13/2024 - Early Bird Deadline for Schools to enroll at spellingbee.com(discounted rate of $185 per school)
• 1/1/2025 - Final Deadline for Schools to enroll at spellingbee.com ($199 per school)
• 1/15/2025 - Deadline for Schools to conduct school-level spelling bee
• 2/16/2024 - Deadline for Schools to register school bee champion(via spellingbee.com
• 2/22/2025 - Deadline to conduct District/County/Area spelling bees
• 2/22/2025 - Deadline to register District, County, or Area Bee champions (via HCConline form)
• 2/8/2025 - Regional Qualifier Online Test (RQOT) Opens (if applicable)
  
  NOTE: The RQOT will be comprised of 50 items and will include both spelling and word meanings.
• 2/22/2025 - Regional Qualifier Online Test Closes (if applicable)
• 3/22/2025 - 2024 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee hosted by Houston CommunityCollege
