The new Culinary Arts Center is being constructed on parking lot 10 at HCC Central Campus, right next to the college's five-story parking garage near Alabama, La Branch, Winbern and Austin streets. The Harris County District Attorney’s office has charged a man for allegedly making a terroristic threat at Houston Community College Central Campus. Luis Antonio Rivera, 21, was arrested and charged following the investigation by HCC Police.

The Government Finance Officers Association has awarded Houston Community College a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the college's 2017 comprehensive annual financial report. This is the 11th year HCC has qualified for the award.

Houston Community College students and administrators met Monday with Holly L. Ham, executive director of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific islanders. The meeting at the HCC Administration Building in Midtown was the latest stop in a national tour Ham is taking to promote the initiative’s desire to help improve the lives of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
