Why did you enroll at HCC Coleman College?
I enrolled at HCC Coleman College because it’s the best place to build a strong foundation in all healthcare fields. It offers exceptional assistance and chances for students to develop personally and academically so they can achieve their full potential.
Why did you choose your program of study?
Healthcare has always been my passion. I chose Medical Assistant because it would equip me with the foundation I needed in healthcare.
Then I went into the Healthcare Management bachelor's program because it will equip me with the knowledge and skills I need to lead in the healthcare industry and make a positive impact on people’s lives.
What do you like best about your college experience?
My involvement with campus organizations has enriched my learning and personal development. I enjoy the sense of belonging and the numerous opportunities for leadership and growth.
What do you like best about your program of study?
The Healthcare Management program emphasizes leadership and compassion, two qualities I believe are crucial for making a difference in the medical field.
When you are tired, what motivates you to push forward?
When I’m exhausted, I think of my kids, Liam and Landon, and the future I want to create for them. My mother’s constant support and my father's legacy also keep me going even on the toughest days.
Another motivator is to inspire children and teenagers by showing them that even though the world can be tough, anything is possible. I want to show people in my home country of Ecuador that all dreams can come true with hard work and perseverance.
What advice can you offer to help other students succeed?
No matter how difficult things get, never quit, never give up. If you want something, work for it with everything you have.
Success doesn’t come easy, but if you keep pushing through the challenges, anything is achievable. Believe in yourself and persevere.
Any final thoughts?
Without speaking any English, I came from Ecuador to Houston in 2016 with a clear dream of entering the medical field. Thanks to HCC, I have been able to make that dream come true.
I dedicate all my hard work to my children, mother, and brothers. This journey is proof that nothing is impossible if you work hard and stay determined.
