To obtain your HCC license plate:

• Apply in person at your county tax office with application form VTR-228 (if plates are applied for in person at the county tax office and the county registers the new plates to the vehicle, the plates will be mailed directly to the customers address on file).
• Mail the form VTR-228 to your local county tax office (if submitting the form by mail, the county may not register the plates to the vehicle. The plates will be shipped to the customer's main county tax office in 3 to 4 weeks from processing). The VTR-228 form can be downloaded at https://www.txdmv.gov/forms under the “FORMS” option by clicking on “License Plates”.
• Apply online at https://renew.txdmv.gov/Renew/SpecialPlateOrderServlet?grpid=20&pltid=453 (if ordering for a trailer or motorcycle you will need to collapse the “organizations” listing of plates indicated at the left of the page and open the list of plates for motorcycle or trailers).

A non-personalized plate will cost $30 each year (of which the HCC Foundation receives $22 for scholarships) in addition to the customer's registration fees. The fee is $70 for a personalized plate in addition to the customer's registration fees. Additional fees may be collected to establish a single expiration date for both the specialty plates and the vehicle registration.
