Become an IDEAStudio Member and become a part of our creative community with access to amazing tools and technologies to empower your imagination and bring your ideas to life! All current Houston Community College students, faculty, and staff can become members without cost. As a member, you can develop your unique creative identity as you learn and grow through workshops, trainings, and collaborations with others. Ready to start? Continue on below to begin the process. Step 1. Watch the New Member Orientation Video

Welcome to the online IDEAStudio New Member Orientation! In this module, you will receive an introduction to the makerspace–what it is, what's available, and how you can use it safely to create almost anything you can imagine. Start with the video below and then review the online IDEAStudio Member Guide that follows. When you are ready, head over to the orientation quiz assignment to start the membership process.

Step 2. Review the IDEAStudio Member Guide

The IDEAStudio Member Guide provides you with detailed information about IDEAStudio, its resources, and the usage and safety guidelines that all members must follow. Take the time to read through each section carefully. You will be assessed at the end of the orientation process.

Step 3. Take the Makerspace Safety Quiz

To complete the IDEAStudio New Member Orientation, you will need to successfully pass the safety quiz with a score of 80% or better. Once you submit the quiz you will get an email with the results. If the email states that you have passed, you will receive a link with directions to complete our liability form. If the email states that you did not pass, click the link in the email to retake the quiz. There is no limit on the number of attempts.

Step 4. Complete the Release of Liability Form

The last step of the new member process is to complete and submit the IDEAStudio Release of Liability form. Read through the form and provide the information requested. Make sure to electronically sign and submit. If you are under 18 years of age, you will need to provide a printed copy of the form signed by yourself and a parent or guardian.

Step 5. Welcome to IDEAStudio!

Once you have successfully completed the steps above, you will receive an email officially welcoming you to IDEAStudio. Once you receive this communication, you are welcome to join in any class activities at the makerspace or sign up for available tool trainings and member workshops. The first time you visit IDEAStudio as a member, you will receive a member badge that identifies you as a member of the space and indicates which tool trainings you have completed.
