HCC Alumni Association holds Spring networking event

Houston Community College’s (HCC) Alumni Association hosted a Spring networking social on April 1, 2025.
Over 200 people attended, including recent graduates and alumni from previous years, celebrating connections and achievements at the West Houston Institute, said James Mable, HCC director of Alumni Affairs and Career and Transfer Services.
Distinguished HCC alumna Flor Dimassi, a 1989 graduate and CEO of GlobalSpeak Translations, spoke at the event highlighting her compelling journey to building her company, crediting HCC for fueling her long-term entrepreneurial success. GlobalSpeak serves clients in major industries with language solutions from a network of linguists in many languages.
Nick Tran, a 1994 HCC graduate, and now managing partner at Invictus Ventures Group in The Woodlands also spoke at the event. He described how he began his journey as a Vietnamese refugee coming to the United States as a child and later becoming a decorated combat veteran, enlisting in the U.S. Army during the first Gulf War and re-enlisting shortly after 9/11. He later attended Harvard University. His company works with Fortune 500 companies to elevate their brands and engage skilled military veteran professionals in roles.
Representatives from various HCC departments were present at the event to highlight innovative programs and initiatives underway. In addition, the event offered alumni complimentary professional head shots by StudioPod photography as well as complimentary HCC Alumni Association T-shirts.
The association also touted its upcoming resume optimization event as part of its HCC Classroom to Career Success Series to help job seekers develop winning resumes. The event is set for April 15 at 10 a.m. at the HCC Central Campus.
