HCC signs Army and Air Force ROTC Crosstown Agreements with the University of Houston

Dec 6, 2024

Houston Community College Chancellor Dr. Margaret Ford Fisher has signed one half of both the University of Houston's Army ROTC and Air Force ROTC Crosstown Agreements, establishing a collaborative agreement and a pathway to a commission in the Army or Air Force and completion of a baccalaureate degree.

Dr. Ford Fisher’s signature cements HCC’s entry into both the Army and Air Force ROTC consortiums and enables HCC students to pursue commissions as Second Lieutenants in the Army and Air Force and pursue careers in defense of the nation.

These Crosstown Agreements will enable HCC students enrolled in the host Army or Air Force ROTC programs to transfer to the schools within the established consortiums. For the UH Army ROTC program those schools are:  Rice University, TSU, HCU, University of Houston-Downtown, University of Houston at Clear Lake and the University of St. Thomas.

The UH Air Force ROTC program, along with TSU, UH Clear Lake, UH-Downtown, Rice, St. Thomas, HCU, Embry-Riddle University, Lone Star College, Prairie View A&M University, South Texas College of Law, UH Victoria and the UT Health Sciences Center.

ROTC scholarships at both programs are very competitive and can cover the cost of tuition, books, and most other fees or room and board if so designated. Applications for the national ROTC scholarships will close on January 31, so if any HCC student is interested in pursuing that option, they’ll need to get started sooner rather than later. Both ROTC programs will evaluate an HCC student enrolled in their programs over the course of the Spring and Fall semesters, with the potential to award scholarships as early as Fall 2025 for those who maintain academic and program standards.
